At 5’5” and 219 pounds after the birth of my son, it seemed I began a new diet every single day. Sometimes I did well through early afternoon, only to let hunger overtake me and I would end up bingeing once again. One night, at 3 in the morning, I was standing in front of the refrigerator eating cold bologna, slice after slice in the dark, when it finally occurred to me that I would die if I kept living this way. The next day, I went to the doctor to have a complete physical with blood work. Then the doctor’s office called. I had a cholesterol reading of 301 and the doctor wanted to put me on Lipitor immediately. He said I was close to a heart attack…at 30 years old. That woke me up. The first thing I did was determine that I would eat no more than 1200 calories a day. Since I wasn’t a good cook and controlling portions wasn’t a strong point, I relied on prepackaged foods. LEAN CUISINE®, lowfat yogurt, etc. There were times that the hunger threatened to overtake me so I would race to the mall to start trying on clothes. It was the one thing that kept the hunger at bay. On special nights out, I would order an entrée and have the server halve it for me, placing the other in a to go box. I still have slip ups and am still 15 pounds from my goal weight but I am a happier person. Now, I do an expert routine in Pilates and fit into a size 6 jean. I’m no longer on cholesterol medication and, even after having been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, my life is still much better than it has ever been. Thanks LEAN CUISINE!
